I try to have a word for the New Year as I don’t always find resolutions very realistic, well for me anyway. So…
- Prompted by the WP Daily Prompt, thank you.
- Encouraged by the post by Melanie at melaniespickett.com ~ 5 Ways to a Happy New Year.
- And the post by shepherdessfortheking.com ~ One Word for 2018.
I settled on a word.
PRESENT = Presence
And on looking to scripture to back that, I was led to one of my favourite psalms.
Psalm 139
7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
I have discovered the meanings for the word present are vast. Which encourages me further. Endless possibilities. A gift for starters, to give, being there, being in the here and now…and so on. It’s a pretty good word.
My take on it is to be present in the moment. As it is so difficult for me to plan beyond the next hour. I have decided to be present for each moment of my day. Be it enjoying breakfast, a refreshing drink, interacting by text or online, looking at the view or fussing my hound, or being creative.
I’d prefer to be able to enjoy those things & not be sucked into the severe ME/cfs vortex of ‘I’m missing life yet again”! Which, said vortex, is currently doing it’s level best to crush me. I don’t want it to be another year, another lost. I’d prefer each day to be presented for it’s worth. (Btw, if you’re reading, Jamison, jamisonwrites.com I’ve been having a moment too recently! You noticed, lol.)
My days may not present as others may wish. Or being totally honest, as I would. But as ever, I try to make the best of it.

So I invite you to be present with me. You may be 100s or 1000s of miles away. But let’s enjoy being present. The click of the central heating coming on, the flip of the letterbox, the flutter of the Sparrow, the sleepy huff of the hound. As the time for a much needed rest presents itself. Even the drip of the tap.
I hope you will join me. #whatsyourword
Have a wonderful New Year. Let’s be present. And I would love to know…
What’s Your Word?…
God Bless & thank you for popping by.

The link to the worship song I’ve chosen is an abridged version, as the full version is 12 mins. The video has quite a lot of effects, so could be best just to listen than try to view at the same time. I’m wearing shades! 😎
That is very meaningful. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Beautiful, Penny! My word is “fly”. It’s my prophetic word for the year. My favourite scripture for it is Isaiah 40:31, although the word used there is ” soar”. Have a wonderful year, my dear! xoxo
