The Room Upstairs at Edinburgh Fringe 2024

Hi dear readers from a room upstairs. I’m still here! Settling down following our home move earlier this year. It is taking a while. More about that in upcoming posts, but suffice to say from a search radius of seven miles (that’s MEcfs for you) we ended up moving less than one. As someone observed recently – ‘basically across the road then‘. Haha! Well yes pretty much, and well worth it! The change is marked. More on that another time.

On with the news.

The Room Upstairs – News

Last summer my daughter did yet another amazing and very brave thing. She performed her one woman show  – The Room Upstairs – at Wanstead Fringe, London. Her show, written by my daughter, explores our mother/daughter relationship within the realms of MEcfs. But most importantly, it is very much her story.

Alot of Interest

Following this very successful run, with growing support and interest from the ME fraternity, she with Baloney Theatre Company are taking the show – The Room Upstairs– to Edinburgh Fringe this year, 2024!! Woop!!

Wonderful reviews

What is Edinburgh Fringe?

The Fringe is a three-week festival of performing arts that takes place in Edinburgh every August. Its story dates back to 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival.

One ‘invisible illness’, lots of puppets, a self-deprecating actor, far too many biscuits and a sprinkle of absurdity all can be found in the room upstairs. But can you handle the journey up?

This atmospheric show raises awareness of ME, an ‘invisible illness’, through the lens of a mother/daughter relationship. Based on true events, this play with original compositions explores how this condition gradually penetrates every element of someone’s life and proves how sometimes laughter is not only the best medicine, but often the only one that’s available.

See You There

So my friends, from one humbled and very proud mama. If you are thinking about, planning or going to be at Edinburgh Fringe this summer. Check out The Room Upstairs. A show not to be missed! Expect humour, comedy, honesty, biscuits, puppets and raw truth.

For myself as ever by saying I will ‘see you there’ I am speaking figuratively. As due to that MEcfs thang, I can’t be there. But I will be, in the copious biscuits and teaas I sniff into my kleenex. [Other tissue varieties are available.] Oh make your mind up, I hear you shout! Haha!

*More exciting news!

I have been advised today that one FREE LIVESTREAM per week for the run will be made available for folk who can’t be there in person.

It’s that easy!

Catch up soon. And do let me know your thoughts on the play. Be ready for…

Have a blessed day
