Hello readers! While I plod through yet another MEcfs setback, groan, I have exciting news.
One of my fabulous children, who is an actor/writer/musical theatre peep and all round creative, has written a one man show about the experience of their parent, ie myself, having MEcfs. The show is entitled:

Written from my daughter’s perspective of MEcfs life, not mine, which is so important. The show will I am sure bring an unexpected flavour. And be a good wake up for the naysayers still in existence, continuing to roll out their trope. But enough from me! More about the show.
Produced in collaboration with Baloney Theatre Company “The Room Upstairs” will be performed at Wanstead Fringe, London this coming September. Yes, autumn 2023.
Baloney Theatre Company’s mission ~ “To create work that celebrates unheard voices in order to facilitate positive change and inspire politically motivated art for ill-supported communities.“
About the show
Baloney Theatre Company
“One ‘invisible illness’, lots of puppets, a self-deprecating actor, far too many biscuits and a sprinkle of absurdity – this can all be found in the room upstairs. But can you handle the journey up?”

More about the show
Baloney Theatre Company
“This atmospheric show explores ME, an ‘invisible illness’, through the lens of a mother/daughter relationship. Based on true events, this play with original music portrays how this condition gradually penetrates every element of one’s life. It proves how sometimes laughter is not only the best medicine, but often the only one that’s available.“

So, if you are based in London, and even if you’re not, and haven’t been a patron of Wanstead Fringe. Now is the ideal opportunity to bookmark it in your diary as a MUST SEE!
“THE ROOM UPSTAIRS”
Multiple dates in September, 2023, at Wanstead Fringe, London, E11.

So funny as I was thinking of you this morning!
What a wonderful thing your daughter has done. I hope she gets a full house!

Aww thank you, Fiona. How are things? Sorry, difficult question to answer. And yes I hope so. It’s been a work of passion & I think quite emotional for her, unsurprisingly. But I am sure she will be telling the story for many. Hoping there will be opportunity for performances beyond this particular Fringe event. But it’s a fabulous place to start.

I think my daughter Eleanor aged 24 may have a lot in common with your daughter. She began caring for me at a young age, 9 years old.
She also went through her own battle with cancer in 2020 but is doing well now.
I’m back in the severe category and in/on the bed all day atm. Trying to walk downstairs once a day.
It’s been a hard year physically but especially mentally. Such is life with ME/CFS!
Yeah I was just wondering how you were as hadn’t received a post from you for a while.
I actually completed a post yesterday which is the first in at least 2-3 years.
I’m not really an arts & crafts person but writing I do enjoy.
I’m writing a book very slowly about chronic illness. Think I’m about 35,000 words in but it takes energy.
How are you doing?
Much love,
Fi

I think so, Fiona. My daughter was 11 when ME hit full on. Almost twenty years later, I’m still here in the same severe category.
I’m so glad your daughter is doing well following the challenge of cancer. That is really wonderful news.
I’m so sorry you’ve had this huge setback again. The mental challenge can’t be underestimated. It takes it’s toll that’s for sure. We had a stairlift fitted almost a year ago during probably the worst ME year since onset. I was marooned upstairs for months. Still very limited. My son said I should have taken the plunge years ago. Might be moving home, but I have crashed again.
I must get back into more writing when doable, it’s such a good outlet. But it does mean being on my phone, which isn’t always ideal.
Amazing that you’re writing a book. I would like to, think I can, make a start, then it all dries up. One day, maybe.
Great to hear from you. Take it easy on those stairs. Will be praying you get some improvement soon.
Love from here. 😘 xxx
