As my readers will know, I enjoy writing reviews, about detail of a variety of items and strategies that help enhance daily life. And certainly that of living with MEcfs and chronic illness. So I was so delighted to be contacted recently by Alex from Cannacares, who got in touch inviting me to write a review of their products. The Product Review

On to the Product Reviews!

As a person in midlife who likes to take good care of my Skin, it was really lovely having a choice of Topical CBD Skin Care & Beauty Products to choose from to review. I made a bee line for the CBD Moisturizer. And was very kindly gifted this product to try. Why did I opt for the CBD Moisturiser? Because I seem to fight a constant battle with eczema on my hands as I am sure many folk do in the current climate, with the need for extra and fastidious hand washing. So a good moisturiser is a must!

And I don’t know about you, but once the central heating comes on in winter my skin can complain quite a bit. So having the opportunity to try a new moisturiser seemed an excellent idea.

Firstly I must give the packaging a mention. You know how I love detail! The products arrived in beautiful packaging. An attractive green sturdy box, green paper packing (no bubblewrap), with lots of additional information leaflets along with a personal note of thanks and good wishes. What a lovely introduction. And no plastic packaging in sight.

Cannacares CBD Moisturiser

The CBD Moisturiser enriched with Cacao Butter, Vitamin E and CBD extract comes in a generous 100mI/100mg size pump bottle. With a convenient clear click on lid to keep it clean. How a container handles and works is really important to me, as alongside MEcfs I have Bilteral Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Which effects the strength and dexterity of my hands and arms. So if something is difficult to open, it can be an utter pain for me. But with this, there is no problem at all. The lid can be removed with ease, but secure enough not to fall off and the pump dispenser is also really user friendly.

I have been used to using a far heavier paraffin based cream to treat the eczema on my hands for some years. I know, gasp! And the difference from that to the Cannacares CBD Moisturiser is quite noticeable. The CBD Moisturiser is light, easy to apply and absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving no greasy residue. You don’t need a huge blob to comfortably Moisturiser your hands, palms, fingers, back of hands and wrists. As it is a light, and effective Moisturiser there is no need to wipe any excess from the skin. It is all readily absorbed. I think I should probably progress to addressing the moisturising of my age, and of course smile, related wrinkles!

The moisturiser has a lovely fresh and gentle scent. So I think once applied, one might wish to apply it again in quick succession as the Scent is so lovely. Your hands are left soft and with the beautiful Scent.

Other plus points are that the Moisturiser is Suitable for all skin types, it is a helpful remedy for irritating skin conditions. And is Vegan-friendly and not tested on animals. I always aim to source skin care and beauty products which are Cruelty Free, and have done for decades. So this is an extra win.

CBD Patches

I have also very kindly been gifted a pack of Calm CBD patches by Cannacares. And again it is a very new product to me. I haven’t tried the Calm patches myself, but I can offer you a fair amount of detail about them. And will definitely keep them in my go to wellbeing tool kit.

They arrive in a handy pack of four 20mg patches, bring 20mg of active ingredient. On the reverse of the packaging it gives clear instructions of how to apply them to the skin, where and for how long.

The skin should be clean and dry. And the optimum place to apply is on your wrist or outside of the upper arm. They can be left applied to the skin for up to 24 hours. Remove the patch if coming into contact with water, then reapply once the skin is dry and the patch will continue to be effective.

My understanding from the very helpful literature included by Cannacares, is that the effectiveness of CBD patches builds over a time of continual use. So rather than being used as a one off in a responsive way to insomnia for example, it becomes an ongoing part of your whole wellbeing strategy.

Even though I haven’t tried the CBD Calm Patches as yet, I think CBD patches could be a great addition to have available as part of my wellbeing and pain relief strategies. As for many folk with MEcfs I do experience varying levels of pain. Having to spend so much time on bed rest, a disc in my spine can at random times decide to bulge. Oh you looked over your shoulder – ping!! It really isn’t fun at all when it happens. With the help of an Osteopath it is generally more stable.

But when it really goes, I struggle to move around our home at all and am in agony. It is then necessary for me to temporarily increase my prescribed pain relief. It just can’t be avoided. The whole scenario becomes stressful and frustrating. In this situation it could well be worth my introducing CBD Patches and then perhaps I could avoid needing to increase my pain relief or not for so long. Or it would at least help the process of managing this type of setback. A strategy really worth considering. And if Cannacares hadn’t been in touch, I definitely wouldn’t have thought of it. I love to have options!

Closing Thoughts

It has been so interesting having an insight into CBD products. And as I have said, I did know CBD products are available, but as it is all very new to me I didn’t realise CBD was available in such a variety of products. Lovely to learn something new and get to know more about Cannacares. And I have to say, any hesitation I had about using CBD products has been dispelled. I will definitely be looking for ways to include them in my daily self-care routines. (I have a few, hehehe.)
